Located at the confluence of the Callaghan and Cheakamus rivers, the provincial recreational site is an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Comprising three campgrounds and a day-use area, the Callaghan campground and the North site offer spacious sites, while the South site is a bit more condensed but has some often-overlooked walk-in sites. Constantly expanding, the new sites in the enlarged area also promise to be spacious. For just $15 per night, campers can enjoy basic facilities such as garbage bins and pit toilets. Additionally, water and sanitation dump stations are available for free about 15 km north, at the waste transfer station from Function Junction. Nature lovers will be delighted to find a large river for kayaking, a beautiful forest, and even a suspension bridge. The sea-to-sky hikes and bike trails also cross the site, providing a variety of outdoor activities. Please note that the site is closed each year from October 31 to April 1, although the exact dates vary depending on snow levels. Despite the fact that the Cheakamus is downstream from the Whistler sewage treatment plant, there are no unpleasant odors to report. However, it is recommended not to drink the river water.
