Camping at Hungry Mother State Park, in Marion, Virginia (United States), around a 108-acre lake in the heart of the Appalachians. The park has 80 sites divided into three campgrounds: Camp Burson (50 sites, including 30 with full services – electricity, water, and sewer – and 20 with electricity and water), Creekside (19 electric/water sites, RVs up to 30 feet), and Royal Oak (11 tent-only sites). On-site: bathhouses with showers, seasonal laundry, dump station, and convenience store. The park offers a sandy beach, boat rentals (canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats), a fishing pier, over 17 miles of trails, a playground, and an amphitheater; cabins and yurts are also available. Camping is open year-round; reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made via dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks.
