Description
Norris Campground, although it was a classic campground in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, is currently closed to the public and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Due to its isolation, the National Park Service no longer has the resources necessary to maintain and respond to emergencies at this site. It has therefore been removed from the list of operational campgrounds in the park.
For reference, Norris Campground was located at the geographical center of the park, at an elevation of 7,500 feet, near the Norris Geyser Basin geothermal area. It offered 112 shaded sites under twisted pines, on a hill bordering the Gibbon River meadows. It was a rustic campground with no hookups (water/electricity), featuring flush toilets but no showers.
Always respect the places and nature, leave nothing behind.
