🏛️ Municipal Regulations — RV Parking in Annapolis Royal
Verified on 16/08/2026
Annapolis Royal, one of Canada's oldest towns (founded in 1605 as Port-Royal), remains separately incorporated, distinct from the surrounding Municipality of the County of Annapolis. The town's Orderly and Peaceful Conduct By-law bans camping or pitching a tent, as well as sleeping after dark, in a « public place » without the owner's or occupant's authorization ($200 to $1,000 fine, or up to 30 days in jail). One nuance worth noting: the bylaw defines « public place » as any property owned or operated by the Town, without explicitly naming streets or municipal lots as examples -- so that link isn't spelled out in the text, even though it appears to be the intent. The Town's full list of 28 bylaws was checked: no separate traffic or parking bylaw exists. Even in the country's oldest towns, RV camping rules are still worth checking case by case.
